Tracing its origins to the Fujiheng Machinery Works established in 1900, the company has successively operated under the Machinery Industry Department of the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the Shipbuilding Industry Administration of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Sixth Ministry of Machinery Industry, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and the China State Shipbuilding Group. It was one of the 156 key projects assisted by the Soviet Union during the country's First Five-Year Plan period, embodying a century-long legacy and a national mission for China's shipbuilding industry. Leveraging the scale advantages and synergistic coordination of its three major bases, the company has built a nationally leading modern shipbuilding industrial platform: the Wuhu Headquarters occupies 1,210,700 square meters and is equipped with four building berths and 850 meters of outfitting quay; the Weihai Base features one 100,000-ton dock and two 50,000-ton building berths, along with domestically leading intelligent cutting and component assembly workshops, achieving an annual output value of RMB 5 billion; the Nantong Base boasts two 300,000-ton dry docks and over 1,200 meters of shoreline. The three bases complement each other's capacities and operate with high efficiency, enabling rapid response to both small-batch customization and large-volume procurement demands, with industry-leading delivery cycles that provide a robust production foundation for technological innovation.
With over a century of specialized experience, the company has achieved 41 "firsts" in China's shipbuilding industry, led or participated in the formulation of over 60 national and industry standards, and holds 233 authorized patents and 82 core technologies in shipbuilding, breaking numerous foreign technological monopolies. It has established seven major research platforms, including a provincial-level enterprise technology center, a specialized vessel engineering research center, a postdoctoral scientific research workstation, and Yaoguang Laboratory.
