Following the launch of the "Four Comparisons and Two Contests" campaign, all cadres and employees at the Weihai Base have remained focused on their targets, advancing production through the campaign’s competitive mechanism. From April 22 to April 29, within just one week, the Weihai Base successively completed two major milestones: steel cutting for a 50,000 dwt MR oil/chemical tanker and keel laying for an 800-passenger, 300-lane-meter ro-pax vessel, achieving phased progress in the second-quarter production offensive.
Steel cutting for the 50,000 dwt MR oil/chemical tanker was successfully carried out
On April 22, the Weihai Base held a steel cutting ceremony for the 50,000 dwt IMO Type II product/chemical tanker (Hull No. W23136). The ceremony was attended by the owner’s site representatives, representatives from BV Classification Society, and relevant company personnel.

The vessel has an overall length of 182.75 m, moulded breadth of 32.2 m, moulded depth of 19.1 m, design deadweight of 50,000 tonnes, and a speed of 14.5 knots, with unlimited navigation capability. The cargo tank configuration features a 9+1 pair design, suitable for transporting crude oil, refined products, chemicals, and other cargoes. The vessel is also equipped with an efficient vacuum stripping system, enabling rapid cleaning and collection of residual oil or chemicals in the tanks, with a residue rate of less than 0.1%, outperforming the typical industry stripping system residue rate of over 0.5%.
Keel laying of the 800-passenger ro-pax vessel
On April 29, the keel laying ceremony for the 800-passenger, 300-lane-meter ro-pax vessel was held at the Weihai Base. Representatives from the owner, classification society, and the company were present, marking the vessel's entry into the slipway construction phase.

he vessel has an overall length of 179.9 m, moulded breadth of 26.4 m, moulded depth of 9.2 m, and deadweight of 6,800 tonnes. Its economic speed is 17.5 knots, service speed 20 knots, and range 4,500 nautical miles, making it suitable for short-to-medium international routes. The hull is divided into three main horizontal zones and three main vertical zones, complying with international regulations on safe return to port, damage stability, vibration and noise reduction, etc. The propulsion system features two medium-speed main engines, controllable pitch propellers, shaft generators, and two flap rudders, complemented by a vertical bow, fin stabilizers, and anti-heeling tanks.
Facing the production task of advancing two major milestones in parallel, the employees at the Weihai Base strictly controlled construction processes and safety production, refined construction workflows, and implemented quality and safety management responsibilities. From the steel cutting of the oil/chemical tanker to the keel laying of the ro-pax vessel, all construction activities have been progressing in an orderly manner according to plan. The Weihai Base will continue to optimize production coordination, strengthen work sequence interfaces, and advance subsequent construction tasks as scheduled.
