On October 29th, the first PSPC block of ten 8000DWT series general cargoes built by Wuhu Shipyard for the Indian owner JSW Company passed through the sand blasting inspection and was successfully transferred.

There is an old saying in China that "nothing is difficult if you put your heart into it". That is, in the face of difficulties, you don't be scared, don't shrink, only analyze and respond, plan ahead, and always have ambition and perseverance, then nothing can't be done.The 8,000DWT general cargo successfully passed the sand blasting inspection, which is the best interpretation of this old saying.

PASSED ONCE AND GOT THE BEST

This ship is the first of the ten 8000DWT general cargoes built by our company for the Indian owner JSW. It is built according to the IMO PSPC coating standard, and the first block sand blasting inspection passed once, bringing a good start for the construction of the project.

It is estimated that Wuhu Shipyard will deliver all ten 8000DWT general cargoes of Indian owner JSW company

Plan ahead and preparedness ensures success

Yang Sheng, manager of the coating and operation module of the production and operation center, said: “Because the block structure of the ship is small, it is difficult for sand blasting. It is much more difficult to meet the requirements of the IMO PSPC standard. There are many shipyards in the industry that have been stuck in the high standard of PSPC, and the advancement is slow. Our shipyard has successfully passed the external inspection of the the first PSPC block sand blasting of the Indian owner's 8000DWT the first time it took the inspection. It mainly owes to our good preparedness for the requirements of the owners and PSPC standards. We have planed ahead, diffused the difficulties and strictly implemented in the process and thus we had a satisfactory inspection result and the owners were pleased.”

▶On September 30th, the PSPC Coating Promotion Group was established;

▶On October 11th, after several rounds of discussions over twenty days, Wuhu Shipyard, Indian owner JSW company, and paint company signed a tripartite agreement, and the overall framework of coating reached a consensus;

▶On October 15th, the “pre-work meeting” of the coating of the 8000DWT ship was held to clarify the requirements of the process control rules;

▶On October 18th, the internal publicity meeting of the coating module was held to convey the standard requirements and unify the ideas.

On October 11th , a tripartite agreement was signed to clarify the construction standards.

On October 18th, a special publicity meeting was held.

Process control, strict implementation

While fully preparing for production and pre-planning, the coating module also carried out strict process control and accurate problem-solving strategies for the sand washing process.

▶Strictly checked port sealing, galvanized pipe protection, and block oil cleaning before sand blasting;

▶In the corner area of the easy accumulation water, washed with the fresh water in advance to ensure that the salt test reached the standard after the sand blasting (measured: 14mg/m2, standard:< 50mg/m2)

▶For difficult construction area, local pre-shooting and main punching were adopted to ensure that the quality of the block surface treatment reached Sa2.5 level, and the external inspection was passed on its first attempt;

▶Self-inspection and special inspection were carried out in strict accordance with the PSPC standard, ensuring the conformity of the block inspection.

In the coating module, there is another saying, which has the meaning of complementing the old sayings - "I only want to find a way for success, not to find reasons for failure." Yang Sheng said that this is the team spirit and motto of the entire coating module. Coating quality is related to the life cycle of each ship. The importance is self-evident.
