Fei Xiang, born in 1987, entered Wuhu Shipyard in his first job after graduating from college. His unique affection towards Wuhu Shipyard closely relates to his family and the education he received from childhood.The 119-year-old Wuhu Shipyard has produced many double-employee families in the era of planned economy in the last century. They regard the Shipyard as the root and as the home. Their lifelong career is to contribute to the development of the Shipyard, and they have constant feelings towards the Shipyard. Fei Xiang was born in such a family. His parents are older employees of Wuhu Shipyard. They have worked for a lifetime and have contributed three or forty years to the development of the Shipyard. Fei Xiang studied at the Shipyard school since young, and the education and the culture he received were deeply influenced by the Shipyard culture. Since then, Fei Xiang has had a unique feeling for the shipbuilding industry. The yearning for it has also started from that time. On April 6th, 2011, an unforgettable day, Fei Xiang officially took over the baton from his father and joined the Wuhu Shipyard gloriously, becoming the security administrator of the EHS module of the Production and Operation Center. He has been in this position for eight years. The safety management of the shipbuilding industry is complex and difficult. His work involves the daily hidden danger investigation, various special inspections, regional fire management, and penalties of violations. Not only professional skills, but also the courage are tested in the management process. Fei Xiang did not back away when encountering the difficulties. From the beginning, he did not understand what is "safe". He has now become an EHS module security expert. At the site, any minor safety hazards can’t escape from him. This is what he has achieved with the successful investigation of every potential safety hazard over the eight years. It can be said that he has spent eight years in the ordinary position and made extraordinary contributions in ordinary positions, and eventually became a safety expert at Wuhu Shipyard.

Once, when a ship was constructed in other place, a hidden fire event occurred in the fresh water tank due to welding violations. There were many construction workers and a large number of finished products on the site. If it was not controlled in time, it would cause significant losses to the company. Looking at the increasing smoke and fire extinguishing equipment with limited spray range and unable to effectively cover the cabin, Fei Xiang first put on a gas mask and rushed in with a fire extinguisher to eliminate the fire hazard at the fastest speed with the shortest time, keeping the workers and the property of the company safe. Later, a colleague asked him why he was so "daring" and didn't even care about his life. What if he couldn't get out once it caught fire? Fei Xiang said, "I judged that the dense smoke had not yet become an open flame. At this time, if it was not suppressed quickly, it would cause significant economic losses and even casualties to the company, so I rushed in without thinking!" Once, when the main section of a ship was closed, and the dropped welding slag ignited the welding wire coil, Fei Xiang rushed to the scene after receiving the notice. Knowing that there were two employees in the cabin and there was thick smoke, and fearing that the two of them were in danger, Fei Xiang wore a mask into the cabin and eliminated the danger. Fei Xiang said: "Dense smoke will not cause too much property damage, but it will cause personal injury, and because of the poor internal visibility of the thick smoke, fear of accidents, so you must quickly and decisively deal with such a dangerous situation."

Although the handling of these two incidents did not cause significant losses, they left a lot of ripples in Fei Xiang's heart. He deeply felt that the security work is extremely important. Accidents often happens and evolves in an instant. Fei Xiang said:"We must pay attention to daily preventive management, we must gradually change from passive indoctrination management to active management of the operating department, and we must consider improving the safety awareness of all employees as a daily task."
