At 09:30 a.m. on June 30, 2025, the construction of the first vessel in the 38,000-ton stainless steel chemical/oil tanker project undertaken by our shipyard for Stolt Tankers commenced in Wuhu. The ceremony was attended by nine distinguished guests, including Mr. Kang Qiulian, Deputy General Manager of our company; Mr. Sageda, Managing Director of Ship Management at the shipowner company; Mr. Holmen, Newbuilding & Technology Director; Mr. Fox, Project Director; Mr. Skjelbred, Site Manager; and Mr. Qu Minwei, General Manager of Stolt China.
Stolt Tankers operates the world's largest chemical tanker fleet, with strong financial capabilities and a leading position in the liquid cargo shipping sector. The company has a rich history, having built over 100 vessels with extensive experience in new ship construction. Our shipyard has been contracted to build six 38,000-ton duplex stainless steel chemical/oil tankers for them. These vessels are equipped with 30 duplex stainless steel (2205) cargo tanks, classified by LR and flagged under Liberia. The ship's dimensions are as follows: Length overall (LOA): 184.9 meters, Length between perpendiculars (LBP): 180.1 meters, Beam: 32.2 meters, Depth: 16 meters. The design was provided by Sweden's FKAB.
During the project preparation phase, the shipyard’s design team thoroughly understood the owner’s requirements and regulatory standards, actively responding to design specifications and holding multiple offline meetings for discussions. The production and procurement teams conducted repeated reviews of the construction readiness and performed pre-inspections on the delivered steel plates to ensure compliance with building standards before cutting commenced. The efficient and high-quality achievement of this milestone demonstrates Wuhu Shipyard’s strong execution and coordination capabilities, laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction phases.
