On December 31, 2025, the self-installing production and processing platform constructed by the Nantong Base of Wuhu Shipyard was officially named. This marks the entry of Beibu Gulf oil and gas development equipment into the deployment preparation stage, as it prepares to shoulder the important mission of developing oil and gas resources in the Beibu Gulf.

At 10:58 AM that day, the ceremony officially commenced. Distinguished guests, including Fang Wenyan, China Regional President of Roc Oil (Bohai) Company, and relevant leaders from CNOOC Energy Technology & Services Limited, attended the event. The naming officiant read the naming decision, formally bestowing the name "Offshore Oil 166" upon the platform. A traditional maritime champagne bottle-breaking ceremony was also held to wish the platform smooth future voyages and safe operations.

Mr. Zhang Zhao, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the company, delivered a speech comprehensively reviewing the platform's construction journey. He emphasized that as a leading domestic ship and offshore equipment manufacturer, Wuhu Shipyard consistently upholds technological innovation and stringent quality control. Regarding the upcoming tow-off operation, Zhang Zhao required a comprehensive inspection of all platform systems and the refinement of emergency plans to ensure a safe and smooth towing process.

Subsequently, on-site leaders presented flags to four respective assault teams: the Platform Delivery Assault Team, the Tow-Off Positioning Assault Team, the Installation and Commissioning Assault Team, and the Piping & Electrical Construction Assault Team. The vibrant red flags symbolized each team's commitment to applying a pioneering spirit to fully ensure the advancement of the platform's subsequent offshore operations.

The newly named platform had successfully completed its christening (launching) operation ahead of schedule on December 29, 2025. The platform was transferred via module transport vehicles onto a semi-submersible barge in the Tongzhou Bay sea area and then towed by tugs to deeper waters for submergence and separation. It is understood that the platform's overall weight reaches 12,000 tons, and the module transport vehicle fleet used for the transfer comprised 400 axles, accounting for one-fifth of the scale of similar operations nationwide. This demonstrates the technical prowess of domestically produced high-end offshore equipment.

The "Offshore Oil 166" platform is a core asset for the development of the western section of the Weizhou 10-3 oil field. Its completion and deployment will further enhance oil and gas production capacity in the Beibu Gulf sea area. With the successful conclusion of the naming and mobilization rally, all tasks for the platform have entered the final sprint phase. Wuhu Shipyard will go all out to ensure the platform successfully completes its tow-off, installation, and commissioning, contributing to the development of China's offshore oil and gas resources.
