Weihai Base Designated as Weihai City Foreign Expert Studio

Recently, the "Weihai Ship Lean Manufacturing Technology Foreign Expert Studio" applied for by Weihai Base successfully passed the review by the Weihai Science and Technology Bureau and was officially approved for establishment. This marks a significant breakthrough for Weihai Base in the introduction of high-level talent and the development of technological innovation platforms. It also reflects the full recognition by the competent authorities of Weihai Base's efforts in cultivating international talent, promoting technological innovation, and enhancing lean shipbuilding capabilities.

Since the launch of the foreign expert program, Weihai Base has successively introduced four senior foreign shipbuilding experts. Working in close collaboration with the base's project teams, the expert team has conducted joint research and initiatives focusing on process optimization, workflow reengineering, and efficiency improvement. Together, they have proposed 118 improvement projects, with 98 already completed. These include 15 major enhancement projects, such as changes to the flow direction system, pre-outfitting pallet lists, and mid-block assembly operations. Through the deep integration of Wuchuan's "automotive manufacturing philosophy" and international shipbuilding concepts, the base has achieved significant results in innovation capability and production efficiency: material distribution efficiency has increased by 30%, welding efficiency has improved by 20–30%, and major assembly timelines have been shortened by 30%. Additionally, more than 40 specialized training sessions have been conducted, providing employees with a learning platform aligned with internationally advanced technologies and effectively enhancing the professional skills and innovative capabilities of specialized personnel.
