Recently, the first batch of eight systematically retrofitted electric official vessels in the Yangtze River basin, completed by Wuhu Shipyard in collaboration with Tri-water New Energy, has received high recognition and praise from the Yangtze River maritime system. Appreciation letters have been successively received from the Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration and the Three Gorges Maritime Safety Administration.

This project was officially mandated by the Yangtze River Administration of Navigational Affairs. It is not only a key annual task under the "Transportation Power" initiative of the Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration but also a critical measure to implement the national "Dual Carbon" goals and promote the high-quality green development of Yangtze River shipping. The project is led by the Yangtze River Administration of Navigational Affairs, with participation from Wuhu Shipyard and Tri-water New Energy.

Since the project team officially commenced the design phase in April 2025, all tasks have been efficiently advanced. The technical design was successfully submitted for review in June, and on December 24, the vessels were officially deployed for frontline maritime law enforcement operations along the Yangtze River. Throughout the implementation process, Wuhu Shipyard and Tri-water New Energy demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility, a rigorous and pragmatic approach, and exceptional technical expertise, overcoming challenges such as tight timelines, demanding tasks, and complex coordination. Their efforts provided robust support for the successful completion of the project. The team’s commitment to excellence, profound technical capabilities, dedicated work ethic, and collaborative problem-solving abilities have been widely recognized by the Yangtze River maritime system.

During the retrofitting and design process, Tri-water New Energy deeply integrated green ship design philosophy with intelligent information technologies. While completing the full electrification replacement of the power system, the company also upgraded core information systems such as ship-shore coordinated communication, panoramic intelligent monitoring, and assisted berthing. These enhancements effectively strengthened the vessels' situational awareness capabilities, improved the efficiency of coordinated law enforcement and supervision, and provided technical assurance for the intelligent upgrading of maritime law enforcement.

According to estimates, each retrofitted patrol vessel can save approximately 200 tonnes of fuel annually compared to traditional fuel-powered vessels, correspondingly reducing CO₂ emissions by around 600 tonnes. This initiative not only significantly lowers long-term operational and maintenance costs but also markedly improves the onboard working environment for law enforcement personnel, enhancing their comfort during duty. It achieves a win-win outcome for both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency, serving as a model for the green transformation of inland waterway shipping.
