On January 30, as the flag-changing ceremony for Hull 14602 concluded, the second 14,600-ton multi-purpose heavy lift vessel (Hull 14602), built for Germany's SAL Heavy Lift Group, embarked on its new journey to fulfill its mission. Earlier in the same week, the company also successfully signed and delivered the third 22,000-ton hybrid-powered chemical tanker (Hull 22003) for Swedish shipowner Donsötank Group. The delivery of two vessels within a single week demonstrates the company’s commitment to enhancing efficiency through lean management, ensuring quality through rigorous accountability, tackling challenges with innovative thinking, and striving for excellence with bold experimentation. This achievement marks a powerful start to the company’s high-quality development as it enters the 15th Five-Year Plan period, gathering momentum for future progress.
14,600-ton Multi-purpose Heavy Lift Vessel (Hull No.2)
1.Compliance with GL Structural Standards
Faced with the extreme precision challenges in welding and assembling a 150-ton single-weight hatch cover and 65-ton second deck, Wuhu Shipyard's project team successfully developed them into fully interchangeable standardized modules through process innovation and stringent tolerance control. The eight hatch covers and twenty second deck sections can now be freely assembled and interchanged. This approach has been formalized into operational guidelines for the construction of subsequent heavy lift vessels. This breakthrough has enabled the vessel to achieve exceptional performance, including doubled cargo hold utilization and a more than 50% improvement in loading/unloading efficiency. Combined with its 1,600-ton world-class tandem lift capacity, the vessel is redefining the new benchmark in the high-end heavy transport market.

2.Mastering Green Propulsion
This vessel is a future-oriented asset, combining the dual advantages of current energy efficiency and future zero-carbon capabilities. The hybrid power system and intelligent energy management system it employs can significantly reduce fuel consumption by approximately 15%. Additionally, the methanol-ready fuel system ensures that future upgrades can be achieved at minimal cost, allowing the vessel to comply with carbon emission regulations seamlessly and maintain long-term leading asset value.
3.Integrated with the World's First Tandem Lift System
The vessel has successfully integrated the world's first 800-ton fully electric heavy-duty crane. Confronting this complex systems engineering challenge with no precedent, the R&D and construction teams collaborated to overcome obstacles, ultimately equipping it with advanced features such as stepless speed control and high-precision wireless remote operation. Simultaneously, the independently developed intelligent ballast system, designed to match its extreme operational capabilities, enables real-time automatic balancing during 1,600-ton tandem lifts. This groundbreaking technological innovation has forged a solid foundation for the vessel's safe, reliable, and highly efficient operation.
22,000-ton Hybrid-Powered Chemical Tanker (Hull No. 3)

1.Hardcore Strength and Batch Leadership
Since transitioning into the chemical tanker market in 2016, Wuhu Shipyard has consistently focused on breakthroughs in core technologies, maintaining its position among the top tier in this specialized global segment. The shipyard has developed mature capabilities for batch and large-scale construction. To date, the company has successfully delivered a diverse range of high-end liquid cargo vessels, including the 22,000-ton hybrid-powered chemical tanker, 21,500-ton asphalt/product oil tanker, 12,000-ton asphalt/product oil tanker, 6,600-ton DC electric propulsion duplex stainless steel chemical tanker, 28,000-ton duplex stainless steel chemical tanker, and 5,000-ton/8,000-ton crude oil tankers, forming a comprehensive product lineup.
The delivered 22,000-ton hybrid-powered chemical tanker is the third vessel in this series. The first two ships of this series were recognized as the "Tanker of the Year 2021" in Europe and one of the "Top Ten Innovative Products in China’s Shipbuilding Industry in 2022," respectively. Building on the foundation of the preceding vessels, Hull 22003 has achieved systematic upgrades by deeply integrating green power, intelligent control, and high-efficiency energy-saving technologies. This enables comprehensive advancements in environmental performance, navigation efficiency, and operational intelligence.
2.Self-reliant Technology · Setting Standards
The company adheres to innovation-driven development, continually pushing the boundaries of intelligent manufacturing for high-end vessels and advancing both ship performance and operational experience. This vessel is equipped with the independently developed Heat Power System, which recovers waste heat from the main engine to provide heating and clean power generation, significantly reducing fuel consumption. Supported by this system, the insulation time for LNG tanks has been extended by over 33%, loading efficiency has exceeded 30m³/h, and the maximum allowable relief valve setting pressure has been increased by more than 60%. Additionally, it enables the recovery and utilization of vaporized gas during long voyages, truly achieving net-zero emissions.
Meanwhile, the vessel also incorporates the company's proprietary patented HYBRID system integration technology. This technology organically integrates the dual advantages of "diesel-engine" and "diesel-electric" hybrid systems. It not only addresses the common industry challenges of single-mode hybrid power solutions and low integration levels, filling a gap in the field, but its waste heat power generation technology using thermal oil has also reached a world-leading level, further enhancing the vessel's overall energy efficiency performance.
3.Green Full-process · Targeted Decarbonization
The company fully implements the concept of green shipbuilding, establishing an environmental protection solution system that covers the entire operational lifecycle of vessels. The newly delivered Hull 22003 integrates multiple green technologies: it utilizes a 6,600V high-voltage shore power direct connection to achieve zero emissions during docking; employs innovative C-type LNG tank installation technology, combined with low-temperature epoxy and thrust block techniques, ensuring safe operation in harsh sea conditions while significantly reducing emissions; is equipped with a battery power station management system that optimizes power station operation through intelligent monitoring and "peak shaving and valley filling," saving approximately 15% in fuel consumption; and also features an ORCAN waste heat recovery power generation device to further enhance fuel economy. The systematic application of these technologies demonstrates the company's comprehensive layout and tangible achievements in the field of green shipping.
Wuhu Shipyard has always adhered to the core values of "Unity and Perseverance, Pragmatism and Innovation, Excellence and Efficiency." By delivering two vessels within the first week of 2026, it has kickstarted the delivery phase of the 15th Five-Year Plan's inaugural year.
