The second major national equipment was delivered in March!The “Haiyang Shiyou 166” platform was successfully delivered

On March 25, the delivery ceremony for the “Haiyang Shiyou 166” platform, constructed by the Nantong Base of Wuhu Shipyard, was held. Government officials from Nantong City and Tongzhou Bay, the owner Roc Oil, the shipowner CNOOC Energy Development, along with guests from various sectors, attended the ceremony.

This is the second "major national equipment" delivered by Wuhu Shipyard within one month, following the delivery of the country's first large-scale fracturing ship, "Haiyang Shiyou 696," in early March, fully demonstrating Wuhu Shipyard's mass construction capabilities in the high-end offshore engineering sector.

The “Haiyang Shiyou 166” platform is the largest in size, heaviest in weight, most comprehensive in functions, highest in intelligence, and deepest-water self-installing platform among similar mobile offshore oil production equipment in China.

The platform has a length of 62 meters, a breadth of 46 meters, and a depth of 6.2 meters, with a deck area equivalent to seven standard basketball courts. The designed lightweight construction weight is 11,500 tons, integrating over 3,900 sets of various equipment. The maximum operating water depth is 45 meters, and it is equipped with four cylindrical legs, each with a total height of 85 meters.

During the construction process, the project team at the Nantong Base overcame key technologies such as precision control of large modular structures, coordinated commissioning of complex process systems, and optimized layout of heavy facilities within limited deck space. The platform highly integrates the self-installing platform with the traditional platform’s full-process oil, gas, and water treatment systems, along with production utility and living support modules, achieving a “one-stop”集约化 layout for offshore oilfield processing functions.

After being put into operation, the platform will head to the Beibu Gulf to participate in the Weizhou 10-3 Oilfield West Area development project, and is expected to contribute 500,000 cubic meters of crude oil annually to CNOOC.

The fracturing ship delivered by Wuhu Shipyard to CNOOC in early March is the world’s largest and the country’s first fracturing vessel, serving as key equipment for enhancing offshore oil and gas production and injection. The “Haiyang Shiyou 166” is the most comprehensive self-installing oil and gas production platform, an “all-rounder” for marginal oilfield development. These two pieces of equipment each have their own strengths, jointly tackling technical challenges in offshore oil and gas development and contributing robust strength to safeguarding national energy security.

Offshore engineering equipment is a “strategic national asset” for developing marine resources. Over the years, Wuhu Shipyard has continuously深耕 the field of high-tech, high-value-added offshore engineering equipment. In 2014, its 65M offshore vessel set the shortest domestic construction record at the time. By independently overcoming the challenges of 7-series high-strength aluminum alloy technology, it filled a domestic gap and successfully established its brand in the offshore vessel sector.

From oil spill recovery vessels to “Haiyang Shiyou 696” and then to “Haiyang Shiyou 166,” Wuhu Shipyard has achieved iterative technological innovations over the course of more than a decade. Each breakthrough stands as a solid testament to “strategic national assets,” and every delivery represents a steadfast commitment to fulfilling the mission of “serving the nation's highest priorities.”

Building on its current achievements and deepening its focus on offshore engineering, Wuhu Shipyard will take the delivery of two high-end pieces of equipment within one month as a new starting point, continuously improving its construction technology and service level to contribute even greater strength to promoting high-quality development of the marine economy and ensuring national energy security.
