Spring breezes urge us onward as war drums beat steadily; in the first quarter, solid execution races against every second. As the first quarter now draws to a close, multiple key projects have advanced in parallel and major milestones have been achieved in succession. Wuhu Shipyard has delivered an impressive spring report card with a spirit of unwavering dedication.
Launching of 6,600-ton Stainless Steel Chemical Tanker

On March 31, the 6,600-ton stainless steel chemical tanker No. 6608 was successfully launched from Wuhu Shipyard's No. 4 Berth, marking the fifth vessel in the series to take to the water.
Drawing on the construction experience gained from the first four vessels in the series, No. 6608 achieved multiple improvements during its construction. The berth erection utilized the three-block construction method. Following the shifting and positioning of the engine room block onto the berth, the cargo hold block and the bow block were successively shifted into place, achieving full hull integration in just five days. After the lifting of engine room block GE02, the Fourth Section joined forces with partner teams to accelerate pre-welding operations, completing pre-welding inspections for the block within three days and laying a solid foundation for meeting the engine handover milestone before the Spring Festival. The project team will continue to drive optimization of the construction process, delve into the finer details of workmanship, and uphold a commitment to excellence, fully converting accumulated construction experience into momentum for enhancing build efficiency and ensuring the high-quality completion of all construction tasks.
The main generator of the 18,500-ton chemical tanker was successfully started up.
On March 30, the main generator of No. 18523, part of the 18,500-ton series chemical tanker program, successfully achieved the start-up milestone, paving the way for subsequent mooring trials.
To ensure the timely achievement of the main generator start-up milestone for No. 18523, the project team engaged early in the process and advanced production and installation progress through a pre-commissioning approach. Installation and tightness testing of the air, fuel, and cooling water systems were completed in advance. This front-loaded preparation meant that upon the equipment manufacturer's arrival on site, only the physical inspection of the generator unit was required before power-on conditions could be met, significantly shortening the manufacturer's commissioning period and creating favorable conditions for the generator start-up. Thanks to the concerted collaboration of all workshops, both the static and dynamic alarm self-testing of the generator on No. 18523 have now been completed, with all technical parameters meeting the required standards. The start-up milestone has been successfully achieved, and subsequent commissioning and inspection work will continue as planned.
50,000-ton MR Tanker Erected on Berth

On March 27, at a critical juncture in the first-quarter push toward a strong finish, the company successfully held the berth erection ceremony for a 50,000 DWT IMO Type II product/chemical tanker at its Weihai facility.
The vessel erected on the berth is the third unit in the series. It has an overall length of 182.75 meters, a moulded breadth of 32.2 meters, a moulded depth of 19.1 meters, and a design deadweight capacity of 50,000 tons. With a service speed of 14.5 knots, the vessel offers excellent transoceanic navigation performance and unrestricted worldwide operating capability. In terms of cargo transport, the arrangement of nine plus one (9+1) pairs of cargo tanks creates a flexible and efficient handling system, capable of accommodating crude oil, refined petroleum products, chemicals, and various other cargo types, offering strong operational versatility. On the technical side, the vessel is equipped with a high-efficiency vacuum recovery system that utilizes a vacuum process to achieve rapid and thorough stripping and collection of residual oil or chemicals from the cargo tanks. The residue rate is less than 0.1%, significantly outperforming industry-standard stripping systems (which typically leave a residue rate above 0.5%), thereby meeting stringent environmental standards and enhancing operational economy.
From the steel cutting of the fifth vessel in this series earlier this month to the smooth berth erection of the third vessel at month's end, the sequential progression and orderly construction of vessels within the same series not only reflect an accelerated production tempo but also serve as a true testament to the company's capability in serialized, standardized, and high-efficiency shipbuilding.
Looking back on the first quarter, we united in purpose and overcame formidable challenges. Every milestone achieved stands as a badge of honor for the people of Wuhu Shipyard; every breakthrough carries the weight of their dedication and hard work. With the first quarter concluded on a high note, we now embark on a new journey. We will maintain our high morale and uphold our sense of mission and responsibility, carrying the momentum of the first quarter's determined efforts into the intensive undertakings of the second quarter.
