Our company has recently completed the successful delivery of the 18,500-dwt IMO II chemical carrier M/V WESTERN CARNATION, built for the owner.

The 18,500 DWT chemical tanker delivered on this occasion represents a new-generation, energy-efficient, and environmentally optimized design tailored to the global shipping market. Measuring 149.8 m in length overall, 22.8 m in beam, and 12.7 m in depth, with a design draft of 8.5 m, the vessel is classed for unrestricted worldwide service. It combines large cargo hold capacity, shallow draft, and high operational flexibility. The cargo tanks are coated with Marineline special paint, allowing for the safe carriage of IMO Type II bulk chemicals, as well as refined petroleum products and vegetable oils. With broad applicability in international chemical and product oil shipping routes, the vessel offers outstanding competitive edge in the marketplace.

With respect to technical design and green innovation, the vessel is fully in step with the global trajectory of low-carbon shipping and incorporates a range of cutting-edge technologies. It adopts a methanol-dual-fuel ready design, enabling the main engine to be converted to methanol-dual-fuel operation at a later stage, thereby accommodating future clean-energy shipping needs. Both the main and auxiliary engines are fitted with SCR systems as standard, ensuring full compliance with the IMO Tier III emission regulations. The vessel also features optimized hull form and high-efficiency propellers, which contribute to lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon emissions, successfully achieving the EEDI Phase III requirements. This represents a dual accomplishment in both operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the vessel is equipped with multiple independent cargo handling systems that allow simultaneous loading and discharging of different cargo types, greatly enhancing operational flexibility and efficiency. This robust configuration provides the owner with a solid foundation for cost reduction, performance improvement, and global business expansion.

In comparison to its two predecessors, this vessel represents a substantial improvement in both construction quality and efficiency. Throughout the building process, particularly during the dock assembly phase, the overall construction schedule was markedly expedited. The pre-outfitting activities across various disciplines yielded exceptionally favorable results, and the installation integrity of critical systems surpassed the benchmarks set in prior construction cycles.

Following the successful completion of sea trials, the vessel construction entered its final critical phase leading up to delivery. However, the project was impacted by two consecutive typhoons, resulting in a total loss of 15 working days. In the face of these mounting challenges, the project team, together with the owner and class surveyors, demonstrated great initiative and resilience. During the typhoon preparedness period, they streamlined and optimized the construction workflows. Immediately after each typhoon passed, they conducted thorough safety inspections and promptly restored normal operations. With close inter-departmental coordination, all rectification and optimization items arising from the sea trial feedback were swiftly addressed. Embracing a "make every day count" mindset, the entire team worked at full capacity to drastically shorten the final punch-list period, ultimately bringing the project to a perfect and successful conclusion.

From enduring repeated typhoon disruptions to racing against the clock and ultimately realizing a successful delivery, this achievement reflects the firm commitment to "expedite vessel delivery," validates the strong backbone of a "well-established management system," embodies the centripetal unity of all departments acting in concert, and demonstrates the formidable fighting capacity born of collaborative problem-solving.

Going forward, Wuchuan Shipbuilding remains steadfastly committed to the path of green shipping development.
