On February 5th, Building Berth No.3 achieved an inspiring twin milestone: the 6,600-ton stainless steel chemical tanker (Hull 6609) was successfully launched, while the positioned grand block of No.18524 was lifted onto the berth. The completion of these two critical steps on the same day demonstrated the mature efficiency of the company’s modular construction system, seamlessly connecting “launching and block assembly” with robust capability.

The 6609 stainless steel chemical tanker launched this time had completed pressure testing for its engine room compartments and ballast tanks prior to launch, with all main structures fully finished. Its completeness reached the highest level among vessels of the same type, laying a solid foundation for subsequent cabin coating handover, mooring trials, and sea trials.

The 6,600-ton stainless steel chemical tanker is a medium-sized, high-quality liquid cargo vessel, offering excellent route adaptability and port flexibility. Its core highlight lies in the cargo tank system—the ship is equipped with 12 independent liquid cargo tanks made of 2205 duplex stainless steel, adopting a high-integrity Itype structural design. Duplex stainless steel combines high strength with outstanding corrosion resistance, enabling the safe transportation of highly corrosive chemicals such as phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid. The “one product, one tank” principle is upheld, meeting the highest standards for cargo compatibility and cleanliness. This series of vessels is also fitted with a new methanol dualfuel propulsion system, allowing flexible switching between fuel oil and methanol, significantly reducing emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon dioxide (CO2), and fully complying with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III environmental requirements.

On the same day, Building Berth No.3 efficiently coordinated and advanced step by step. While successfully completing the launching of Hull 6609, it also carried out the orderly lifting and positioning of the grand block for No. 18524 onto the berth. No. 18524 continues to adopt the "One and a Half Hull" construction method. Building on the experience from previous vessels, the process for block lifting and assembly has been further optimized, resulting in a notable reduction in the block integration cycle, along with a significant increase in both the pre-outfitting rate of sub-blocks and the completeness of grand blocks.

Strive to meet the call of the New Year; build today to shape tomorrow.

Behind the "Two Milestones in One Day" lie meticulous production planning, scientific resource allocation, and highly efficient coordination across all stages. More fundamentally, it reflects the perseverance and dedication of all Wuchuan shipbuilders, who heed the call of spring and press forward despite the cold. As the Beginning of Spring arrives, bringing a lingering chill amid the warming trend, the shipbuilders remain steadfast at their posts, working tirelessly day and night amid tight schedules and complex procedures. From precise lifting and positioning to stringent welding inspections, every step is imbued with sweat and focus. Through a down-to-earth spirit of “enduring hardship and daring to tackle challenges,” they translate construction plans into steady onsite progress. With their hands and wisdom, they have sounded the prelude to a spring season of determined progress.
